Our region’s citizens can actively and effectively participate in developing broad-based solutions to our region’s challenges by sharing their opinions, expectations and needs with The Civic League. Through our forums, summit and emerging leaders programs, The Civic League serves as the vital third leg of the proverbial ‘three-legged stool’ and brings together citizens with elected officials and business leaders to ensure all perspectives are heard to facilitate better decision-making. At the same time, the interaction empowers citizens to hold policymaking institutions accountable and make them more inclusive and responsive. Neighborhood ForumsThe Civic League conducts monthly, interactive public forums with community leaders, designed to promote understanding and accountability among the communities in the Atlanta region. Forums focus on important regional topics such as sustainability, population and employment shifts, regional economic trends, and future development patterns, and serve as hubs for information and connections. Regional Neighborhood SummitThe Regional Neighborhood Summit is an annual convening that enhances grassroots leadership skills, capacity building and peer-to-peer learning through workshops on topics such as “How to plan and execute an effective community meeting” and “The basics of successfully collaborating with other community institutions.” The Summit also serves as a platform for understanding neighborhood-specific issues and challenges, strengthening relationships with neighborhood leaders, and identifying the assets and best practices each neighborhood can share with the region. REAL TimeThe Civic League’s Young Professionals group, Regional Engagement and Leadership program, or REAL Time, facilitates civic involvement and networking among those individuals tagged as emerging leaders - citizens between the ages of 21 and 40. REAL Time organizes networking events that connect young professionals to each other around issues of regional significance with the goal of inspiring them to become more involved in the community. |
