The Atlanta region is experiencing historic change and growth, facing great challenges but also great opportunities. The issues we face today affect everyone in the region, and our solutions to these challenges will shape and transform the region in years to come. Only a constructive, inclusive and functioning coalition of citizens can offer the best solutions to our region’s challenges.

Air Quality The air we breathe is the ultimate common good. Air pollution respects no governmental boundaries. If our local jurisdictions cannot work together to improve air quality, the environmental costs will be distributed to everyone. The Civic League works to help citizens understand their role in helping solve the region’s air quality problems by driving less, joining car and van pools, using transit, etc. In addition, it helps everyone use their voice to persuade regional leaders to take unpopular but necessary steps to clean the region’s air, and to keep it clean. |

Transportation Forbes.com ranked Atlanta as the worst region for transportation in America. Transportation and congestion are now at crisis levels in our region. The Get Georgia Moving Coalition led the way to form a bi-partisan transportation plan, which was fair to both the Atlanta region and other parts of Georgia. |

Water Water is life. We are in the midst of an historic drought. There are two important aspects regarding water and both are important to our region. Georgia must develop a plan to provide adequate water to the Atlanta region. Our health, jobs, and quality of life require that happens. Additionally, we all must learn to adopt new conservation efforts regarding water. |

Education
SAT scores are out and once again, Georgia is at the bottom of the list nationally at 47th. In Georgia, some counties in our region are literally at the bottom of the list. The Civic League is dedicated to working in our region to educate our officials and citizens about the importance of a 21st Century education for the children of the Atlanta region.

Diversity When Atlanta was awarded the Olympic Games, there were 19 international flights out of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Today, there are over 100. Our region is home to over 60 Consul General offices and over 40 international chambers of commerce. Our region is diverse. The Civic League is committed to bringing all our ethnic communities together. |
