The Civic League for Regional Atlanta

Following Gates’speech, he joined Civic League chair Lesley Grady and Host Committee Chair (and DeKalb County CEO) Burrell Ellis in presenting The League’s annual Regional Excellence Awards to the Atlanta Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging, the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Horace Sibley and Trees Atlanta. The 2010 Founders’ Award was presented to James L. Rhoden, Jr., chairman of Futren Corporation, by his friend Bill Bolling, founder and executive director of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The Founders’ Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution of vision, leadership and action for positive change in the Atlanta region over a period of years. In his remarks, Bolling characterized Jim as a true believer in the critical need for a cohesive region who works quietly behind the scenes to push important business, cultural and civic initiatives on a regional level and at home in Cobb County.
