  • It takes a region: Civic League, ARC seek citizen input for Plan 2040

plan2040_logoWhat are the needs? Which are the most pressing? Where should the money go? The Atlanta Regional Commission seeks to address these and other questions through Plan 2040, a long-range plan to accommodate economic and population growth sustainably in the Atlanta region over the next 30 years. The plan has already been shaped by many hours of citizens’ input, and now at the midway point, ARC has asked The Civic League to dig deeper by making Plan 2040 the focus of four upcoming Neighborhood Forums, beginning on Thurs., June 10 from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. in Cobb County (location to be announced).

Each forum will begin with a brief presentation by an ARC staffer, and forum participants will then have an opportunity to react to what they’ve heard by raising questions and making suggestions. This back-and-forth between planners and citizens is critical to creating a plan that accurately captures the region’s needs.

Other Plan 2040 Neighborhood Forums will be held in July, September and November (dates and locations to be announced).

Note: Can’t make it to a forum? Not to worry; ARC is also hosting online public meetings to coincide with elements in its PLAN 2040 planning process. Each online public meeting will be available for review and consider at your own pace. The first online public meeting on PLAN 2040 Vision and Goal Setting is now available through May 31.
