The Dan E. Sweat Chair of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University has just released three new Atlanta Issues publications: The Economic Health of Metropolitan Atlanta, by Alexis Wesaw. The Economic Health of Metropolitan Atlanta, by Alexis Wesaw. This paper provides a summary of the economic health of the Atlanta metropolitan area using indicators such as income, employment, unemployment rates, and foreclosure rates. Comparison of U.S. Subway Systems, by David Robinson. This report presents a comparison of Atlanta's Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) subway system to five other major subway systems in the country: New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. We look at how MARTA ranks nationally using some basic statistics such as ridership, total rail mile, rolling stock, and number of stations. Property Taxes on Homestead Property in 2009, by David L. Sjoquist and Alexis Wesaw. This report presents the property tax liability for 2009 for homes located in the unincorporated areas of the 10 counties that comprise the Atlanta Regional Commission and homes in the largest municipality in each of those counties.
