On June 10, The Civic League welcomed neighborhood leaders, business owners, at least one former elected official and a trio of Boy Scouts to the Cobb Chamber for the first of four Neighborhood Forums on Plan 2040, the region-wide plan now being developed by Atlanta Regional Commission to accommodate economic and population growth sustainably over the next three decades.

"The objective of our involvement activities for PLAN 2040 is to hear from as many perspectives as possible, especially from everyday people who are interested in how their neighborhoods and communities prepare for the future," said Judith Dovers, ARC's manager of community outreach.

0610forum2ARC staff members were on hand to give an overview of the plan, including its goals, objectives and the nine focus areas that have been identified thus far. Then, over the course of the two-hour forum, participants worked in small groups to clarify priorities and identify concerns. Forum participants immediately grasped the magnitude of Plan 2040 and the impact it will have on the region, and their hard work and enthusiasm is captured in the forum summary report, now available online.
