| Neighborhood Forum Recap: Transportation and Transit |
|
This past spring, The Civic League hosted a Neighborhood Forum in Southwest Cobb County on transportation and transit. Over the course of two hours, the 43 men and women who participated generated 164 ideas for getting around the region easier, faster, cheaper, greener. Their ideas were recorded in the League’s growing database of citizens’ ideas for a better region. And as with previous forums on sustainability, diversity and land use, we found many shared concerns and areas of agreement. Among the most frequently heard: • There is a need for more public transit and easier-to-use transit. • Participants urged more cooperative regional planning. • There was support for walkable, dense, mixed-use development that would reduce the need for automobile travel.
